SINOPSE (PORTUGUÊS) Um mestre de bateria e um maestro de música clássica. Dois homens de universos  distintos movidos por um combustível em comum: a vocação pela a música. O documentário “Filhos do som” (26 min), de Rafael Duarte, Pedro Serra e Hermano Beaumont – cruza as histórias dos dois regentes que dedicam suas vidas ao trabalho, ao público e às suas “orquestras”. De um lado, o Mestre Faíscca, Estandarte de Ouro pelo Império Serrano e um dos responsáveis pela revitalização do Carnaval de Rua do Rio de Janeiro. De outro, o maestro carioca de música erudita Ricardo Rocha, fundador e diretor da Cia. Bachiana Brasileira, que acaba de completar 31 anos nos palcos e brilha como uma das mais renomadas orquestras sinfônicas do Brasil.O filme, contado numa narrativa que costura as histórias dos dois protagonistas, revela a entrega dos dois pela música e pelo trabalho árduo dos meses que antecedem suas grandes apresentações. O espectador imerge na musicalidade de transpira dos artistas durante os ensaios e descobrirão suas visões de mundo, o que pensam da música e como ela pode ser um importante agente transformador da sociedade.

ENG | A master of the carnival drums section and a classical music maestro. Two men from different worlds, powered by a single fuel: a calling for music. The documentary “Sons of Sound” (26 minutes), by Rafael Duarte, Pedro Serra and Hermano Beaumont, intersects the stories of two conductors that give their lives for their work, the audience, and their respective “orchestras”. On one hand, Master Faísca, winner of the Golden Banner for the samba school Império Serrano, and one of the people responsible for revitalizing the street carnival of Rio de Janeiro. On the other, the classical music conductor from Rio, Ricardo Rocha, founder and director of the Companhia Bachiana Brasileira, which recently turned 31 years old and still shines as one of Brazil’s most renowned symphonic orchestras. The film’s narrative is interwoven by the stories of the two protagonists, showing their dedication to music and to the arduous work that goes in the months leading up to their big performances. The viewer gets immersed in the musicality transpiring from the artists during rehearsals, and learns about their world views, their thoughts on music, and how it can be a fundamental transformer of society.
